I. Fragmented Selves
This composition is a visual poem about memory, personal history, and the emotional resonance of imagery. Flowers, butterflies, trinkets, and illustrated figures form a dreamlike collage, fragments of the past blending together like pieces of a nostalgic reverie. The childlike face in the centre symbolises innocence, curiosity, and the clarity of childhood perception, untouched by societal expectation. The background is rich with emotive details, each image carrying a feeling — joy, longing, melancholy, or fleeting happiness. I am fascinated by how visual symbols can trigger deep emotional recall and act as gateways to memory that words often cannot capture. This work is both intensely personal and universally resonant — how colours, shapes, and found imagery evoke memory, nostalgia, and reflection. The collage acts as a diary without dates, a record of emotional experience, and a meditation on the way memory, time, and personal perception intertwine. It invites viewers to connect with their own memories and to reflect on the delicate, poetic ways the past shapes who we are.
