2. Dual Self

This work explores the complexity of selfhood and the masks we present to the world. The central figure, dressed in regal red, holds his own severed head, a surreal gesture of confrontation and detachment. Symmetry and saturated color amplify the drama, while fragmented textures emphasize the layered nature of identity. By holding his likeness, the figure embodies vulnerability and defiance, reclaiming agency over how he is seen. The collage questions whether self-portraiture can ever be whole, or whether we are always split between the face we show and the one we conceal.
